MONIQUE HAMMOND graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy, with high distinction. She is a registered pharmacist and has worked in health care in Europe, the United States, and Australia.
Monique went suddenly deaf in her left in a matter of four hours, a life-changing event that cut her pharmacy career short. As she tells it:” There was suddenly so much more to hearing loss than not hearing well.”
Trying to make sense of her own condition put her on track to write a comprehensive book on hearing and hearing loss: “What Did You Say? An Unexpected Journey Into the World of Hearing Loss,”—now in its second edition.
Monique is a powerful speaker and a staunch advocate for those with hearing loss. She is an industrial consultant on work-related hearing issues and continues to work with community and support groups. Her mission is “to keep people hearing better, longer.”
