Again our virtual zoom meeting was started by Bob Delisle singing our National Anthem and leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance , followed by past president Karen Blake giving the invocation. There were 24 participants enjoying a virtual luncheon. Becca Valdes from City Seeds announced that there were volunteer opportunities at City Seeds which plans to distribute/deliver 130 food boxes. Africa was pronounced polio free , a long time project of Rotary International. We also received greetings from district 4060 of the Dominican Republic where our club president is actively involved in providing dental services.  District representative Delores Edwards announced that Kelly and Catalina attended the club leadership training. Club committee meetings are as follows: 3rd Tuesday –Membership, 4th Tuesday –Youth Services ,3rd Wednesday AM – Community services.                                                                                                                                                                             Our Speaker today was Jeff Thompson, the Executive Director of the Historic East Baltimore Community Action Coalition (HEBCAC). It is a 501c 3 not for profit entity covering central East Baltimore. It has a staff of 28 and a budget of $2 million. Its mission is to work with residents to provide opportunities to improve their economic and social lives. HEBCAC partners with the department of Social Services and requires the involvement and buy in of the residents. Projects include the City Seeds building, Station East and affordable housing. A much needed effort in that part of the city.
