Who We Are

We’re 2.6 million strong—1.8 million girls and 800,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world.

Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we’ve honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

The Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra, Inc. is a not-for-profit community-based volunteer and semi-professional orchestra of accomplished musicians that incorporates performers of all ages to play the masterworks of the symphonic repertoire encouraging the love of classical music and providing a series of regular concerts to the community at no cost.[1]

Founded in 1998 as an offshoot of the Gettysburg Sypmhony, the group has performed within the city and outside of Baltimore. While most concerts are held in a venue near the city line in Baltimore County, the orchestra has held performances as far away as one at 2012 concert in Ocean City. That performance was completed under the direction of Rubén Capriles, who came to the orchestra from a job with the Ciudad Guayana Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela.[2]Photos – Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra

As we approach the halfway point of my tenure as Club President for the 2017-2018 Rotary Year, I would like to express my sincere thanks to each of you for your support over the past 6 months.  We have collaborated and shared many great ideas on improving our Club, and expanding our impact in the Greater Baltimore community, the nation and our world!  We continue to render service above self, and uphold The 4- Way Test in our daily interactions.  As a result, we are developing into a benchmark Club in our Rotary District and Zone.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Foundation, we look forward to the hope and promise of 2018.  With service projects on the horizon, and Club goals to achieve, we are excited to push forward with your support to make this a banner year for the Rotary Club of Baltimore!

As we celebrate this joyous holiday season, let us ever be mindful of the miracle of Christmas, and share the gifts of Peace and Love with all whom we encounter.  From my family to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

On behalf of the 2017-2018 Board of Directors, Club Leaders and Members of the Rotary Club of Baltimore, we

wish to extend “Happy Thanksgiving” wishes to you and your families today!

On this special holiday, we take time to

express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all of our Zone and District leaders, Rotary Spouses, Club Partners, and Friends of Rotary.  You mean the world to us, and we thank you for playing such a significant and supportive role in the life of our Club.

On the local level, we are thankful for the opportunity to serve others above self.  We work hard throughout the Rotary Year to uphold our Club motto, guiding principles, and honor the Four-Way Test in the things that we think, say and do.  It is a blessing for us to serve our Greater Baltimore community, and we are thankful to be able to support our inner city youth, college students in need, community organizations and international projects around the world.

On the international level, we are thankful to support the work of the Rotary International organization in its efforts to eradicate polio; promote peace; provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene; save mothers and children; support education; and grow local economies.  Our global network of Rotarians continues to grow and impact lives.

We are thankful to be Rotarians.

Happy Thanksgiving!
